Sheryl Pruett, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated Salado High School faculty member, passed away on May 21, 2025, in Temple, Texas. Born on September 30, 1961, in Temple, Sheryl touched the lives of so many with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support.For over 20 years, Sheryl served as an educational assistant at Salado Independent School District, earning the affectionate nickname "The Warden" as she was known for her ability to enforce rules with a compassionate yet firm approach. Her commitment to education and her nurturing spirit made her a cherished figure among students and staff alike.
Sheryl's home was a sanctuary for many. She welcomed everyone with open arms, transforming her house into a haven where many of her children’s friends enjoyed the comfort of her home-cooked meals and the warmth of her heart. She was a mother figure to countless kids, instilling values of love and compassion in all who entered.
Sheryl loved spending time at the beach with family and friends, relishing the joy those precious moments brought her. Winters often found her in Ruidoso, NM, where beautiful memories were created amidst the snow and laughter. She also enjoyed spending time with the many friends she met as a rodeo wife. These simple pleasures defined her life, shaping the essence of her caring nature.
A proud member of the 3C Cowboy Fellowship Church in Salado, Sheryl’s faith was a guiding force in her life. She believed in the power of love and community, and her impact will be felt deeply by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She carried a deep love for her family, which was evident in everything she did. Sheryl was particularly proud of her children and grandchildren, holding them close to her heart. Married 43 years, her husband, Sidney Pruett, stood by her side in their life together, sharing countless memories as they worked in their garden, sold fresh vegetables at their stand, and watched their grandchildren, Jaxon Lee and Maggie Mae, play ball.
Sheryl is survived by her beloved husband, Sidney Pruett; her mother, Mary Wooley of Salado; her son, Kasey Pruett, and his wife, Meagan Pruett, and Parker Pruett of Salado; her daughter, Keri Gilbert, and her husband Jeremy; her brother, Tommy Wooley and his wife Beth; her sister, Karen Wilson; her nieces, Brittany Pannell and Amy Marek; her nephews, Ryan Wooley and Lucas Wooley; her two adored grandchildren, Jaxon Lee and Maggie Mae; and numerous family members and friends who will cherish her memory forever.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tony Lynn Wooley.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Sheryl on May 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the 3C Cowboy Fellowship Church in Salado, Texas with Pastor Jason Bryant Officiating. Her legacy of love, compassion, and care will resonate in the hearts of all who knew her, a testament to a life beautifully lived.
