Shirley Marie Carlson

Shirley Marie Carlson, affectionately known as Shirley to her friends and family, passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 14, 2025, in Belton, Texas. Born on February 10, 1942, in Hazard County, Kentucky, Shirley's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and joy that touched everyone she knew.

Shirley's journey began in the rolling hills of Kentucky. Her life was a testament to her strength and resilience, qualities that she carried with her when she moved to Texas, the state she would eventually call her final home. For 28 years, Shirley was a dedicated employee at the Buick Motors Division, where she was known for her strong work ethic. Beyond her professional life, Shirley's passions were many and varied. She was an avid garage seller, always on the lookout for bargain. Her culinary skills were second to none, and family gatherings were always an opportunity for her to showcase her love for cooking. Shirley's hands were rarely still, as she found joy in crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that she generously shared with those around her. Shirley's love for animals was evident to all who knew her. Dolphins held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment she could spend watching them in their natural habitat. Her affection for cats and dogs was just as strong, and her pets were considered a part of her family.

Family was the cornerstone of Shirley's life. She is survived by her loving sister, Virginia Moore, and brother-in-law, Carole Moore. Her legacy continues through her son, Floyd Dwayne Carlson, and daughter-in-law, Donna Carlson. Shirley's spirit will forever be cherished by her granddaughter, Kara Dawson, and her husband, Andrew Dawson, as well as her grandson, Cory Carlson, and his wife, Jessica Carlson. Her great-grandchildren, Ryan Dahl, Tyler Dahl, and Chloe Carlson, will grow up with stories of their great-grandmother's kindness, humor, and love. She is proceeded in death by her son Otis Ellis of Indiana.

Shirley's life was a beautiful reflection of the love she had for her family and friends. Her memory will be held in the hearts of those she leaves behind, a comforting presence that will continue to guide and inspire.
