Sondra Rexine Kennon, a beloved stay-at-home mother and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, in Temple, Texas. She was born on August 27, 1943, in Plainview, Texas, where she spent her formative years receiving her education in the public schools.

Sondra's devotion to her family and her nurturing spirit defined her life. Known for her loving and kind personality, she was a dedicated mother who found joy in caring for her children and participating in their lives. Her passion for youth extended beyond her own family, as she served on the alter guild at both St. Marks Episcopal Church in Plainview and St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Amarillo, where she also taught Sunday school. Her commitment to the spiritual development of children exemplified her deep-seated belief in the importance of community and faith.

In 1977, Sondra enriched the lives of preschool children by working at Mrs. Sams Daycare, where she embraced every opportunity to engage with them through art projects and educational activities, helping them to discover the world around them. Her dedication to nurturing young minds reflected her gentle, caring nature.

After the passing of her husband, James Kenneth Kennon, Sondra continued to uplift those around her. She became an active volunteer at Play "Texas" Palo Duro Canyon State Park and the Amarillo Little Theatre, bringing joy to many in her community through her selfless acts of service during her time in Amarillo.

Sondra is survived by her daughter, Doneice Lynn Perry of Temple, Texas; her son, Stephen Craig Kennon of Lake Jackson, Texas; her son, James Kevin Kennon of Dripping Springs, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Agnus Bond, and her beloved husband, James Kenneth Kennon.

As we remember Sondra R. Kennon, we celebrate a life filled with love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her and were touched by her warmth.
