Souad Nimeh, born on February 10, 1938, in Syria, passed away on November 24, 2025. She lived in Syria until the age of 13 before moving to the United States, where she settled in Waco, Texas. Souad pursued her education with dedication and graduated from Baylor University as a mathematician.
At the age of 21, Souad returned to Syria, where she met her husband, Michael, and together they started a family, welcoming two daughters and a son into their lives. After some time, she returned to the United States, where her hard work and determination led her to forge lifelong friendships and create a supportive community around her.
Souad was known for her remarkable culinary skills, often regarded as the "cook of all cooks." With a deep love for her Syrian heritage, she brought traditional Syrian cuisine into her family's home, making it an irreplaceable part of their lives. Her passion for cooking extended beyond her family; she took joy in teaching other Syrian women the art of cooking, preserving their ethnic food and culture in the process. Souad's heart was as generous as her kitchen, and she was always quick to give, whether it was her time, advice, or a warm meal.
In addition to her culinary talents, Souad found solace and joy in gardening and baking, spending countless hours nurturing her plants and creating delightful treats. Her personality shone brightly; she was kind, loving, and possessed a quick wit that endeared her to all who knew her.
Souad is survived by her son, Abraham Nimeh of Jarrell, Texas; her daughters, Hiam Nimeh of Killeen, Texas, and Hala Nimeh of Seattle, Washington; as well as nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of love and kindness.
She is preceded in death by her sisters, Noujoud Achkar and Mounar Khoury, and her parents, Abraham and Mary Khoury. The memories shared and the traditions she upheld will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
