Thomas Kirby Prewitt III went home to his Lord and Savior on August 10, 2026 at his home in Temple, Texas. Kirby was born on November 11, 1963 to T.K. Prewitt Jr. and Delores Jean Brooks Prewitt.
Kirby grew up in Belton, Texas, where he attended Belton High School and Salado High School. His love of music started as a child when he sang A Little Drummer boy in a Christmas production at school. As a teenager he formed the band Beatitude. He spent a large part of his adulthood in Austin, Texas, where he continued his love of music as a singer/songwriter and playing with Richard Head and Three Pot Offy.
Kirby was the first to crack a joke and always had a story to tell. He grew up hunting, fishing, camping and all things outdoors. He enjoyed being part of the Belton Tigers and later Salado Eagles football teams. He was thrilled when he later played himself on the TV show Friday Night Lights.
He lived life to the fullest and marched to the beat of his own drum.
Kirby was preceded in death by his parents, T.K. and Jean Prewitt. He is survived by his sister Cindy Belinsky and husband Howard, and sister Debi Handley and husband Shawn; nephew Chris Handley and wife Katy, and niece Sarah Richardson and husband Josh, as well as a great-niece and two great-nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Chalice Church (First Christian Church) at 300 North 5th Street, Temple, Texas. Visitation and lunch will be provided at the church at 11:30 before the Celebration of Life.
