Tisdora Mexia Luna, a vibrant soul whose life was a tapestry of laughter, music, and unyielding kindness, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, in Temple, Texas. Born on April 4, 1934, in Bartlett, Texas, Tisdora embraced a life that celebrated the joy of connection and the beauty of community.
A jack of all trades and dedicated farmer, Tisdora’s hands were never idle. Yet it was his spirit—upbeat and endlessly generous—that truly cultivated the hearts of those around him. Known for being the life of the party, he had an uncanny ability to light up every room with jokes, dance moves, and a genuine smile that made strangers feel like lifelong friends. His love for dancing, particularly to Tejano music, was a signature expression of his soul, and perhaps no gathering was complete without him swaying to the rhythms that moved him. Whether gripping a pool cue or savoring a Busch beer, Tisdora embraced life with a warm embrace and a twinkle in his eye.
He is remembered fondly for his unwavering devotion to his late wife, Mary Esther Luna, embodying a love so profound it inspired all who knew them. His heart beat in harmony with his family, whose lives he nurtured with the same care he showed the land he worked. Survivors include his beloved children Daniel Tito Luna, Tisdora (Duck) Luna Jr., Helen Harding, Rene Carranza, Vickie Vasquez, and Rebecca Luna. He also leaves behind brothers Wallace, Joe, Jesse, and Ezekiel (Zeke), and sisters Geneva, Rachel, and Maryann—a constellation of familial ties that echo the love and laughter he so freely gave. His wide-reaching family tree blossoms with 23 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, each a testament to his enduring legacy.
Tisdora’s roots ran deep in a family rich with history and kinship. He was predeceased by his parents, Estanislado and Refugia Luna; his brother Domingo (Sunday); and sisters Rosa, Macaria, Maria, and Geneva.
The community will gather in his honor with a visitation at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5431 U.S. Hwy 190, Belton, Texas, on June 1, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The following day, a Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1018 S 7th St, Temple, Texas, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery, 1873 N 1st St, Temple, at 11:30 a.m. A memorial gathering will return to Crotty Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m., providing a final opportunity to celebrate a life that was a dance, a joke, a helping hand, and a lesson in living fully.
Tisdora Mexia Luna’s journey was one of generosity, joy, and an unbreakable spirit. He never merely passed through life—he made it a dance floor, a gathering place, a space where love was the music that played on forever.
