It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Troy Goodwin, a beloved husband, father, brother, and cherished friend. Born on July 25, 1981, in Temple, Texas, Troy’s life came to a close on May 10, 2026, in his hometown, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, strength, and devotion to family and the outdoors that touched everyone who knew him.
Troy was a man defined by his connection to nature and his passion for the simple joys of life. Known as an outdoor kind of man, he reveled in spending time with loved ones—whether it was sharing stories around the grill, honing his renowned barbequing skills, or enjoying quiet moments hunting and fishing. His love for collecting arrowheads spoke to a deep appreciation for history and the natural world, a hobby that brought him much pride and joy throughout his life.
Troy worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Austin Wood & Recycling, a role that reflected his hardworking spirit,. Yet it was outside of work where Troy’s true essence shone—he was a devoted family man, whose greatest happiness came from being with his wife Erin and their children, Trapper, Zoey, Brayden, Aliyah, Janessa, and Makenzie. His brothers Thomas Goodwin, Shane Moore, and Nicholas Mattson, alongside dear friends Andy Myhre and Layton Ash and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever remember Troy’s generous heart. He will also be deeply missed by his father Tommy (Tiger) Goodwin and step-mother Sherry Goodwin, as well as his loving mother Linda Hosch.
A visitation honoring Troy’s life will be held on Thursday May 14, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Crotty Funeral Home of Belton, Texas. This will be followed by a funeral service on Friday May 15, 2026, beginning at noon at the same location, providing family, friends, and community members a meaningful opportunity to celebrate Troy’s life, his passions, and the love he so freely gave.
As we say goodbye to Troy Goodwin, we remember a soul whose warmth and kindness knit a beautiful tapestry of memories that will remain in our hearts forever. His love for the outdoors, his cherished family, and his skillful hands at the grill will be dearly missed but eternally remembered. May his spirit find peace among the fields and waters he so loved.
