Walter Ray Stapleton Jr.

Walter Ray Stapleton Jr., 61, of Killeen passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020 in the comfort of his home. Walter was born to Ida and Walter Stapleton Sr. on April 26, 1959 in Brandon, Mississippi. Walter served his country in the Air Force, and later did factory work. He loved to read, solve crossword puzzles, and watch birds. Walter loved nature and frequently went on hour long walks. He was a New Orleans Saints fan. Walter loved candy, especially chocolate and always had peppermints in his pocket. His favorite line was, "What's up, girlfriend?" Walter was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed. A visitation for Walter will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Crotty Funeral Home in Belton. Cremation will take place following services. Walter is survived by his girlfriend, Florence Flores; his daughter, Shawanna Lockhart-Mullins of Gulfport, MS; his son, Dontrell Boler of Dallas; his sisters, Mary J. Thomas of Gulfport, MS, Jackie M. Stapleton of Killeen, and Georgia L. Lamar of Harker Heights; and his seven grandchildren. Walter is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Colbert; his brother, Kevin D. Stapleton; and his sister, Carolyn D. Brown.
