William Theodore Harbes, known affectionately to friends and family as Bill, passed away on June 21, 2024, at the age of 59 in Temple, Texas. Born on February 16, 1965, in Houston, Texas, Bill's life was characterized by his infectious humor, remarkable handiness, and the immense love he had for his family.
Bill's journey through life was filled with laughter and hard work. He was the beloved husband of Alana Harbes, with whom he recently celebrated 38 years of marriage-a partnership built on mutual respect, love, and an abundance of cherished memories. Together, they raised their three children, Charity Sembera (Joseph), Jesse Harbes (Megan), and Bruce Harbes (Kailynne), who were the pride and delight of Bill's life. He was also a doting grandfather to Joseph Jr, Hannah, Luke, Jennings, and Amslee, whose adventures and accomplishments brought him immeasurable happiness.
Bill made his mark in the world through his work as a mechanic, a career that spanned several decades. His colleagues knew him as a man who could always be relied upon to lend a helping hand or share a joke to lighten the mood. His expertise and dedication to his craft were evident in the quality of his work and the esteem in which he was held by his peers.
Away from work, Bill's passions were as clear as the Texas sky. He was an avid outdoorsman, finding peace and contentment in the simple pleasures of hunting and fishing with his family and his dogs. These activities were more than hobbies to Bill; they were opportunities to connect with nature, reflect on life's blessings, and create lasting memories with friends and family.
Bill's home was a place of warmth and laughter, where he could often be found working on a new project or fixing whatever needed repair. His ability to solve problems and create with his hands was only matched by his quick wit and the ease with which he could bring a smile to the faces of those around him.
In every aspect of his life, Bill embodied the virtues of kindness, humor, and humility. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless lives he touched through his generous spirit.
As we bid farewell to Bill, we find comfort in the knowledge that his life was well-lived and that his memory will continue to inspire and guide us. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, a family that adores him, and a community that respects him.
Bill Harbes' life was a testament to the importance of family, and the enduring impact of a life lived with a generous heart. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created will serve as a beacon of light for all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Awaiting Bill in Heaven are his father, Bruce Willard Harbes, and his grandson, Jacob Willard Harbes.
In honor of his life and the love he shared, we say goodbye to a remarkable man whose spirit will forever remain a part of the fabric of our lives. Rest in peace, Bill; your legacy will continue to live on.
