Charlie enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, and singing. He was a member of Cedar Valley Baptist Church. He was not much of a traveler since all he needed was right there with him. Charlie’s family says., “he never met a stranger”. He loved to talk to anyone and everyone. Locally he was known as the "Chicken Man" but to his family he was known as a father, grandpa, uncle, brother, life counselor, protector, provider, and spiritual advisor. He was the kindest most gentle giant and strong as a tree. A few of his most famous quotes are "Laughing is good for your spirit" "Look to all the good things in life" and "Keep on keeping on".
