Gabriele Elisabeth Renate Oborski

December 28, 1943 — July 22, 2022

Gabriele (Bohringer) Oborski, 78, of Harker Heights passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022, at her
home with her husband by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gabriele Elisabeth Renate Oborski was born on December 28, 1943, to Alfred and Gretel Bohringer
in Darmstadt, Germany.

Gabriele (Gaby) had a servant heart, a passion for people and an adventurous spirit. At a young age
she aspired to join the German Equestrian Olympic Team until a tragic back breaking accident while
training caused her to adjust course. She later embarked on one of her greatest adventures, joining
the peace corps where she spent 10 years in Namibia, South Africa, touching countless lives and
enjoying priceless experiences. After returning to Germany, she met and married her late husband,
James (Jim) Oborski in 1972 and remained married until Jim’s passing in 1996. Together they had
two sons, Patrick and Khristof. The family returned to the United States in 1986, eventually settling
in Harker Heights where Gaby lived out the rest of her days.

One of Gaby’s greatest achievements was cultivating a lifelong career as a gourmet chef. She will be
remembered for the exquisite presentation of delectable meals. Her passion for creating gourmet
cuisine accelerated her to the highest level of executive chef, which lead to the position as head chef
at Mill Creek Country Club in Salado and later owning a catering business. Early in her career her
creativity and acclaimed abilities gained her the honor of providing meals for the German Consulate.
Gaby never lost her adventurous spirit. She met husband Rick Robinson while out with friends in
Waco in 2001, the couple married later that year. Dancing the Texas two-step was a favorite past
time which they mastered and later shared their passion with other couples by teaching dance
lessons. The two also enjoyed traveling. They traveled and explored Europe several times. Gaby
famously loved the cruises she and Rick took over the years. She loved the freedom and
peacefulness of the open water. In addition to all their travels, Gaby and Rick shared a passion for
dogs. Together they created Angel’s Nest, a business breeding Golden Doodle puppies. Over the
years, their puppies have brought joy to the hearts of over 150 families.
Gabriele was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Gretel Bohringer and late husband, James
Oborski.

Gabriele is survived by her husband, Rick Robinson; her son, Patrick and wife Cathy Oborski of
Salado; son, Khristof and wife Laura Oborski of Buda; four grandchildren, Rylee, Ashleigh, Tylar, and
Jackson; stepson, Derek Robinson of Manor; stepdaughter Monica Harper of Waco; step-
grandchildren, Lesly, Phillip and Janel; 3 step-great grandsons; sister Claudia Garner of South
Carolina and many cherished friends.

In lieu of funeral services, and to honor Gaby’s wishes, her family and dearest friends will join in a
private reception to share cherished memories and celebrate a full life lived. Her ashes will be
spread at a later date on the water where she found great happiness.

Arrangements are entrusted to Crotty Funeral Home & cremation Services of Belton.
