Doris Jean Watkins (Sutton), lovingly known as Jeannie, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family in Belton, Texas on April 11, 2023, at the age of 72. Born on March 29, 1951, in Fort Worth, Texas, Jeannie was a kind and creative soul who touched the lives of everyone she met.
Visitation for Jennie will be 12:30 to 2 PM Monday, April 17, 2023 at Crotty Funeral Home. Her Funeral service will follow starting at 2 PM with Raymond Chapman officiating.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Donald Watkins, who passed away in 2008.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane Porter and husband Kevin L. of Belton, and Dannella Jeannette Chapman and husband Steven M. of Belton; a brother, Lonnie Sutton; three sisters, Elaine Diehl, Vickie Elliot, and Jerri Sutton; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Jeannie’s family was the center of her world, and her love for them was boundless.
Throughout her life, Jeannie was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to her job. She spent over 30 years as a server at various restaurants, including Great Southwest in Belton. She enjoyed working with the VFW Auxiliary post 4008 in Belton. In her free time, Jeannie was an incredibly talented and creative individual. She had a passion for sewing, crocheting, and jewelry making, often sharing her beautiful creations with friends and family. She also had a green thumb and loved to garden and do yard work.
Jeannie was a kind and loving person who always put others before herself. She was known for her generosity and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and cared for.
In closing, we celebrate the life of Jeannie, a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will be cherished forever.
