Maria Teresa Munguia ,75, of Belton went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at a local hospital.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Belton. Funeral services for Maria will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, September 20, 2021, at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Demetris and Lidia Salazar Officiating. Her burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Belton.
Maria was one of five children born to Julio Chavez and Maria Ortiz. She born on August 11,1946 in El Salvador. Maria was a very brave and selfless woman, at the young age of just twenty she migrated alone to the United States. She was always a firm believer in Christ and served as a missionary at every opportunity to help others. Maria was known for her amazing stories of things she had experienced helping others. She saw the good in everyone and everything. She helped the homeless and always made everyone feel welcome in her home. Maria loved everyone deeply and with all her heart. Her family is blessed today by the prayers that she prayed for them all and they will miss her always.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ramiro Munguia, her parents, Julio Chavez and Maria Olivia Ortiz and her brother, Oscar Chavez.
She is survived by her sons, Omar Reyes of Austin, Jorge Prado of California, Danilo E. Aragon of Belton, and Ramiro Munguia of California; her daughter, Lisandra Cortez Garcia of Temple; her brother, Rigoberto Ortiz of California; her sisters, Marilin Chavez of Colorado, and Rosa Reyes of California, eleven cherished grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many cherished family members and friends.
