Marie Savage

May 12, 1960 — April 26, 2023

Temple, Texas

Pearl Marie Savage, known to all as Marie, was a shining light in the lives of everyone she
encountered. Born on May 12, 1960, in Temple, Texas, Marie's life was a testament to the
power of love, laughter, determination, and kindness. On April 26, 2023, Marie's bright light
transitioned from this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and inspiration.
Marie's life was characterized by her unwavering devotion to her family. She was preceded in
death by her father, Paul Edward Woodyard, and is survived by her loving mother, Diane
Woodyard of Temple. Marie's love and dedication extended to her sons, Aaron Savage of
Temple, and Ryan Savage of Tomball, his wife Ashley Savage, and Marie’s beloved grandson,
Donovan Savage. Marie's family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in their
accomplishments and happiness.
A Troy High School graduate, Marie began work at Scott & White Hospital in Temple in the early
80s, working her way up through a number of positions, eventually joining the ENT staff. In the
late 90s and early 2000s, she worked for Viron International in Temple, and later worked at
Motel 6 in Temple, where she considered the staff and wonderful manager family. She later
obtained an Associate Degree from Temple College in her pursuit to learn and experience more.
Marie's love for her family was not limited to her biological relatives. As a Troy Band Mom, she
extended her nurturing spirit to her son's friends and fellow band members, treating them as her
own. This role gave Marie the opportunity to share her love of music and her passion for
supporting young people in their pursuits. Marie's home was a haven for laughter,
encouragement, and camaraderie, and her impact on the lives of these young people will be felt
for generations to come. Marie was known for her love of cooking, reading, and Star Trek. Her
culinary skills brought joy and nourishment to her family and friends, and her love of literature
and science fiction fueled her imagination and curiosity. Marie's beloved dog, Leela, was a
constant companion and source of comfort, embodying the unconditional love that Marie herself
gave so freely to others. Marie dearly loved animals, and always encouraged others to adopt
shelter pets in need and treat them like family.

A celebration of Life for Marie will be held on Saturday, May, 6, 2023 form 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Grace Baptist Church, located at 740 Jayline Dr. in Temple.

As we gather to celebrate Marie's life, let us remember the lessons she taught us through her
example. Let us strive to love unconditionally, to laugh often, and to face life's challenges with
courage, determination, and most of all, kindness. In doing so, we honor Marie's memory and
ensure that her light continues to shine brightly in our hearts and in the world.
Marie's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, laughter, and strength. As we
say our final farewells, let us carry her memory with us and strive to live our lives with the same
passion and dedication that she embodied. In this way, we can ensure that Marie's legacy lives
on, inspiring future generations to live their lives with love, laughter, and determination.
