Monte Ray Montanye, Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2023, in Killeen, Texas. Born on February 9, 1956, in Sioux City, Iowa, Monte brought joy, laughter, and love to all who knew him.

Monte was a proud graduate of Blair High School in Nebraska, class of 1974. He went on to serve his country as an Army veteran, earning a Sharpshooter Medal for his exceptional marksmanship. After his military service, Monte embarked on a successful career in maintenance, working for the City of Killeen, Kings Daughters Hospital of Temple, and The Plaza Hotel in Killeen. His colleagues and friends knew him as a dedicated worker and a "Mr. Fix It."

A man of many passions, Monte loved riding his Harley Dyna Glide and spending time outdoors with his grandchildren. His generous spirit was evident in his willingness to give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. Monte's loving, handy, and passionate nature made him a cherished presence in the lives of those who knew him. Monte's lasting impact on the lives of his family and friends serves as a testament to the beauty of his heart.

Monte is survived by his beloved wife, Marita Montanye, whom he married in 2023. His memory will be cherished by his loving mother, Verna Kuhr; his children, Monte Montanye, Jr. and wife Maria Crumley, Cheryl Linn Montanye-Roberts and husband Steve, Jennifer Zellmar, and April Zellmar-Nesslein and husband Jay; his siblings, Mike Kuhr, Rick Kuhr, Craig Montanye, Brenda Beatty-Funk, and Betty Munson; and his six adored grandchildren, Kaiden Montanye, Cadence Seale, Delilah Williams, Mason Nesslein, Keaton Clonts, and Bailey Roberts.

He was preceded in death by his two amazing fathers, Harlan Montanye and Melvin Kuhr, and a brother, Lee Montanye.

Monte Ray Montanye, Sr. will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, and his legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire those who carry on his name. Ride On.
