Norma Jean McKinney

Norma Jean McKinney, 81, of Belton went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at home surrounded by her loved ones.

A memorial Service for Norma Jean will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation services in Belton.  

 

Norma Jean McKinney was born on September 9, 1939, to Luther and Mildred Hayes in Gatesville. She attended Gatesville High School where she met the love of her life, Donald "Don" Edward McKinney. She graduated from Gatesville High School in 1958 and married Don on April 4, 1959. Don joined the Navy and they were stationed in Japan where their twin daughters were born. They lived in many places over the course of his Navy career including Georgia, Hawaii, Austin, and several others before moving back home to Texas.  Jean worked in property management for several years in the Austin and Houston area. She enjoyed reading books, cooking, fishing on her houseboat, and always enjoyed a good garage sale. Jean loved spending time with her family. They enjoyed playing cards, dominos, and singing gospel music together. She will be truly missed.

 

Preceding her in death and waiting for her in Heaven were her husband, Donald Edward McKinney, who was her first and last kiss; her father Luther Lee Hayes; Her mother, Mildred Marie Sydow Hayes; her daughter, Laura “Janine” Singleton; her brother, Curtis “Buck” Hayes; her sister Glyn Bell, and her grandson, Jacob McKinney.

 

She is survived by her son, Michael and his wife, Jaime McKinney of Georgetown; her daughters, Dawn and her husband, Todd Gallahar of Katy, and Donna Lee Blagg of Belton; her sisters, Wonnie Bell Morgan of Alvin, Minnie Cox of Temple, and Dessie Lee "D" Harrell of Temple.; her six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

 

Arrangements are entrusted to Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Belton.
