Richard Turnpaugh Ii

1961 — January 1, 2023

Belton, Texas

Richard Lee Turnpaugh II, age 61, of Belton, known to all who loved him simply as Rick Chainsaw Turnpaugh, took his final bow on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in Belton, Texas, after a life filled with laughter, and music.

Born on June 23, 1961, in Kokomo, Indiana, Rick's life was a whirlwind of creativity, humor, and good old-fashioned fun. While his journey on this earth has come to an end, the memories he created and the people he touched along the way will continue to carry his legacy forward.

A graduate of Kokomo High School, Rick was a man of many talents. Not only was he a gifted musician who could pluck a guitar string like nobody's business, but he was also a skilled karate instructor. His passion for music led him to be inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame, a fitting tribute to a man who could make even the most hardened cowboy tap their boots.

Rick's interests were as varied and colorful as the man himself. When he wasn't strumming his guitar or teaching a karate class, you could find him in the kitchen, whipping up a batch of cookies or a delicious cake that would make even the most seasoned baker jealous. His love for his grandchildren was boundless, and he took great joy in sharing his passions with them.

Family was always at the heart of Rick's life, and he leaves behind a loving and devoted family. His wife, Lisa Turnpaugh of Belton; one son, Richard Turnpaugh III of Temple; three daughters, Korina Johnson, Carly Turnpaugh, and Nakoeda Lana, all of Temple, will forever cherish the memories of their father's unwavering support. Rick's brothers, Randy Turnpaugh of Moffatt and Rob Turnpaugh of Pendleton, and his sister, Kandy Wolff of Temple, will fondly remember their brother's antics and the bond they shared. Five grandchildren, who were the apples of Rick's eye will forever hold onto the stories, laughter, and love that their grandfather showered upon them. Many other cherished family members and friends will continue to celebrate Rick's life and the impact he had on each of them.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Turnpaugh I and Donna Turnpaugh, and his son, Eric Turnpaugh on April 20, 1990.
Courageous, creative, are just a few of the words that best describe Rick Turnpaugh II. He was a man who never shied away from a challenge, whether it was learning a new musical instrument or facing life's obstacles head-on. His creativity was unmatched.

As we say goodbye to Rick Turnpaugh II, we can't help but smile at the thought of the joy and laughter he brought into our lives. His visitation will be from 5 PM to 7 PM Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Belton. Richard's funeral service will be 10 AM Friday, April 14, 2023 at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Belton with Donald “Doc” Sheffield officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.

While his physical presence may be gone, his spirit will forever live on in the stories we share, the songs we sing, and the love we continue to give to those around us. So, let us raise a glass, strum a guitar, or throw a playful karate chop in honor of a man who truly lived life to the fullest and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Rick Chainsaw Turnpaugh – you will be dearly missed, but your legacy will live on in the laughter and love you left behind.
