Robert Cheeseman

August 7, 1953 — December 1, 2022

Belton, Texas

Services for Robert “Cheesy” Thomas Cheeseman, 69, of Belton, TX will be at a later date.

Cheesy died December 1, 2022, at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Temple, TX, after a long battle with Cirrhosis. Cheesy was born on August 7, 1953, in McGregor, Iowa, to Bryon and Helen (Jewell) Cheeseman.

Everyone that meets Cheesy instantly falls in love with him with his charismatic personality. He is the one that puts a smile on your face.

Bob grew up in Elkader, Iowa, playing sports at Central Community School and loved to help with the horses that his family raised.  He loved to go fishing when he had the chance, watch his Dallas Cowboys and the old westerns on TV and he loved horseback riding when he was younger. Cheesy loved spending time with his friends, his “adopted family”, (he had many adopted family members that he loved and cherished), and the love of his life, Virginia Casto. He spent a lot of time on the phone with his daughter, Traci, talking about anything and everything about life. Cheesy drove for numerous trucking companies before he retired from Downing Trucking in Troy, TX, and loved traveling around the country and seeing the beauty that this country has.

Cheesy will be greatly missed by his family, including his adopted family, and many, many friends.

Cheesy was preceded in death by his dad, Bryon Cheeseman in 1997; his mom, Helen Cheeseman in 1999, and his brothers, John and Tom, both in 2017

Survivors include his fiancé, Virginia Casto; two daughters, Julie DePoorter Northup of Belle Plaine, IA, and Traci Cheeseman of Marion, OH; a brother, William (Bill) Cheeseman of Waterloo, IA; 6 grandchildren, Carl James (CJ) Nagel of Monona, IA, Sadie DePoorter of Belle Plaine, IA, Mason Cheeseman of Bucyrus, OH, Jasmine Northup of Belle Plaine, IA, Alaina Cheeseman of Bucyrus, IA, and Lucy Kessler of Farmersburg, IA, and one great-grandchild coming in January.

Arrangements are entrusted to Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
