Robert James Walstead, a devoted family man, respected home inspector, and proud Army veteran, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at his home in Nolanville, Texas. Born on August 29, 1945, in Kearney, Nebraska, Robert lived a life marked by dedication, humor, and an unwavering love for those closest to him.
Robert's career as a home inspector reflected his meticulous nature and his commitment to ensuring safety and comfort for families in his community. His professional life was only one facet of a character defined by warmth and wit. Known for his loving and funny personality, he brought joy and laughter to countless friends and family members throughout his life.
A veteran of the United States Army, Robert was a proud legionnaire at American Legion Post 573 in Harker Heights, Texas. His service exemplified his dedication to his country and to the ideals of honor and camaraderie. He held this role with great pride, cherishing the bonds formed with fellow veterans.
Music held a special place in Robert's heart, particularly the timeless sounds of The Kingston Trio. Fondly remembered, the sole CD he kept in his truck was an enduring testament to his unique tastes and personal interests, providing a soundtrack to many memorable moments on the road.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Debra Walstead of Nolanville, Texas; his sons Christopher Paulson with wife Connie Clark of Copperas Cove, Texas, along with Thomas Paulson (son); Martin Hodgin with wife Mary Ellen of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Dakota (son); Robert Walstead III with wife Kersten of Tanglewood, Minneapolis, along with Freya Walstead (daughter) and Conner Walstead (son); his daughter Anita MacFarlane with husband William of Northglenn, Colorado, and their daughters Lilian Fraser and Sierra Seely; plus his brother Thomas Walstead with wife Linda of Plymouth, Minnesota, as well as many nieces and nephews. Additionally, he was a cherished great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren who added joy and renewal to his later years.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Maude Walstead, and his brother, Richard Walstead. Their memory remains a cherished part of his story and legacy.
While he leaves a profound absence, Robert James Walstead’s legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty continues through the family and friends who were privileged to know him. His memory will endure as a beacon of kindness and gentle humor, inspiring all who had the honor to cross his path.
