Gary A. Vail II

October 7, 1983 ~ November 8, 2021 (age 38)

Gary A. Vail II, 38, of Round Rock passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021.

Tentatively services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Q2 Stadium in Austin at 10:00 A.M.

Gary was born on October 7, 1983 in Pittsburgh, PA. His parents are Melvin and Sheree Vail. He spent most of his childhood in Horseheads, NY. Gary graduated from George Washington High school’s Global Village Academy in Danville, VA. His greatest joy was being “Dad” to his two children, Ariah and Chaz. They will miss him dearly in all their future milestones. His parents couldn’t have wished for a better son. Gary was always an amazing big brother to his siblings, Jared and Nachelle.  He was known for living his life to the fullest every day and he never met a stranger. Gary was always the positive energy to any situation. He was the kind of person you needed to confide in. Gary was a big tech guy. He enjoyed home theater systems, TVs, and car sound systems that would shake the neighborhood. He was always a creative thinker and enjoyed learning new things. He listened to motivational podcasts, read articles on new innovative ideas, and always had some new business plan.  Gary enjoyed Halloween and always had the most outrageous costumes. He joined the U.S. Army in February 2006 and found his true calling in Special Ops Aviation. He ended his stellar military career as a Warrant Officer CW2 at Fort Hood Military Base in Fort Hood, TX with the 166th Aviation Brigade. His career included seven deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. The way he loved, his “brothas” in arms, and friends as family was a true testament to the kind of man he was. In his final moments, 27 minutes after midnight on November 8, 2021, he was never left alone. He was held by his family and lifted up by his brothers.

He is survived by his parents, Melvin and Sheree of Elmira, NY; his wife, Gabrielle B. Vail of Manhattan, KS; his two children, Chaz and Ariah Vail of Manhattan, KS; his brother, Jared Vail of Astoria, NY; his sister, Nachelle Vail of Austin, TX; his grandmother, Francis V. Wade of Pittsburgh, PA; countless uncles, aunts, cousins, brothers in arms, and sisters in arms who were also family.
